We suggest you to visit at only 10/15 km from Montepulciano: Monticchiello, Bagno Vignoni (in the center of the village there is a pool of sulphurous water), San Quirico d'Orcia where you can visit an important example of Italian garden (Horti Leonini). Pienza

An architectural jewel recognized by UNESCO as a cultural heritage site, had its actual birth at the beginning of the '400 when Pope Pius II asked Rossellino to redesign Pienza as the ideal city on a human scale and made it his summer residence. In the city you can visit the cathedral, Palazzo Piccolomini, the Residence of Pope Pius II, and the diocesan museum. Pienza overlooks the hills of the Val d'Orcia: the landscape's distinctive aesthetics, flat chalk plains out of which rise almost conical hills with fortified settlements on top, inspired many artists.
