Casanova dei Boschi

Wine and cellars

For those who love good wine, a stay in Casanova dei Boschi is ideal for discovering vineyards, grapes and cellars that are out of the ordinary. In the historic center of the city, we recommend the Redi cellars - characterized by highly evocative arches and naves - and the Contucci cellars, rich in history. But just stroll through the streets of Montepulciano to discover exceptional shops, wine bars and tasting places.
Not to be missed, on the last Sunday of May, is the 'Cantine Aperte' event where producers meet consumers in a festive atmosphere.

The Nobile di Montepulciano takes its name from the custom that the nobles of the time had of drinking it at their tables.
Production takes place only in a specific area of the municipality of Montepulciano and strictly at a height between 250 and 600 meters above sea level.
The grape variety is Prugnolo Gentile, a selection of Sangiovese Grosso, in a minimum percentage of 70%. In addition to Prugnolo Gentile we can find Canaiolo Nero up to a maximum of 20%, or can always contribute up to a maximum of 20%, the vines recommended and/or authorized for the province of Siena as long as the percentage of white grape vines does not exceeds 10%. Aromatic vines are excluded with the exception of Malvasia del Chianti.

But Casanova dei Boschi is located at the center of a golden triangle of wine. A few kilometers away is the magnificent Montalcino with its exquisite Brunello; the inimitable Chianti of the Senesi Hills. And a little further away the Vernaccia di San Gimignano.

A direct tasting, often accompanied by local cheeses, splendid pecorino cheeses of Sardinian origin (like that of Pienza) revisited by the Tuscan tradition.

A palate experience that you will carry with you for a long time.
